New Orleans Jesters unveil new Mardi Gras Jerseys for 2024 NPSL campaign
On Thursday, May 10th, the NPSL side New Orleans Jesters and their kit supplier Admiral broke out brand new jerseys and kits for their 2024 Season in the Gulf Coast Sunshine conference. These kits were created for the city's annual Mardi Gras parade in downtown New Orleans, but for the sport in the city, it means so much more for the fans.
Back in 1859, the first documented soccer game in the US took place in New Orleans, and 165 years later, this collection honors the birthplace of soccer in America and everything that has made it unique over the centuries. They will have three different colored jerseys, representing the fabric of what New Orleans is all about.
The 2024 New Orleans Jesters Home Kit takes full ownership of the Mardi Gras colors. Reflecting the city’s joyful festival tradition, the jersey features a striking color scheme of Peppermint Leaf, Mystical Grape, and Mardi Gras Gold. Each hue acts as a visual representation of the values ingrained in New Orleans culture: purple for Justice, green for Faith, and gold for Power. Finally, the overall pattern draws inspiration from Harlequins and court jesters, who created their costumes by sewing together fabric scraps in an elongated diamond motif.
Highlighting another staple of New Orleans culture, the 2024 New Orleans Jesters Away Kit boasts a captivating shadow stripe reminiscent of the city’s intricate wrought iron balconies and gates that adorn landmarks along the historic French Quarter. The wrought iron pattern also incorporates a vibrant pinstripe, lending a touch of classic soccer aesthetics to the design.
Finally, the limited-edition alternate jersey draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of jazz history. The design intricately weaves together iconic imagery inspired by the instruments synonymous with the jazz genre, creating a visually captivating tribute that celebrates the city’s eclectic musical heritage.
Seeing these jerseys representing the city, its lovely French Quarter, and the music of jazz playing all over the town, is a beautiful idea and a well-deserved tribute to the city's long history of what they are known for. To make the sport of soccer in New Orleans and melt that in with New Orleans is just another great idea to make the Jestters truly a part of the city.
“We are especially excited to celebrate this 10-year partnership with ADMIRAL and show fans what we have in store for our 2024 kits,” Jesters Director of Football Kenny Farrell said. “It’s a big year, and by working with ADMIRAL, we have been able to create uniforms that we feelrepresent both the identity of our club and the vibrant history of New Orleans as a whole.”
You can purchase these jerseys at Admirals's website, or if you will be at a home match of the Jesters, get them at their home matches. I hope the club will sell them out and prove to every sports fan in New Orleans that no matter what type of sport you are a fan of, this country will love the game of soccer no matter what level it's at.
