At 31, Neymar should be right in the prime of his career, either leading PSG (with Kylian Mbappé) forward in the post-Messi era and finding one last big contract at a European powerhouse. But it’s looking increasingly likely that neither will happen.
Barcelona already publicly ruled out a Neymar return, with Xavi saying “he doesn’t fit in the plans” at the moment. Of course he doesn’t fit in the plans as Barcelona are scrambling to stay within La Liga’s economic rules framework. The recent moves Joan Laporta made, have in my opinion put Barcelona’s long-term economic solvency in jeopardy but that’s another conversation for another day.
