PER A NISA RELEASE:
The National Independent Soccer Association announced today a shift and delay to the start of the 2024 season canceling the inter-conference kick-off matches in Georgia scheduled from March 23rd to March 31st.
NISA’s four new clubs, Arizona Monsoon FC, Capo FC, Georgia Lions SC, and Irvine Zeta FC, require additional time to prepare for the long season ahead. It is critical to ensure every club is in its strongest possible position before stepping onto the pitch. The season will now begin April 6, and the league will seek to make up matches during the West Coast inter-conference trip scheduled for August 3-10.
ANALYSIS
I had been tipped off that the vetting of the four new NISA clubs had not ended with the USSF AGM in early February.
The five existing clubs that are returning from last year, have all been cleared by the federation per my sources. However to my knowledge, but there were still concerns about the four new clubs.
But once NISA released the season schedule, I assumed that process was over and admit my own negligence in dropping the inquiries that I had feverishly making at the time. I’ll do some digging in the next few days and report what I hear and a status update.
By the way, this wasn’t the only news dump tonight. We will get to the other matter shortly or tomorrow.
You can almost be certain, they did not realize the amount of money it was going to take to operate in am 8 team national league. The travel costs alone must be astronomical, and you can bet they do not have significant fans bases or sponsorships.
