Leagues and clubs were ever present at Soccerex
Call it the Wall Street after hours bar scene of soccer, or whatever you want: Soccerex is a place for industry executives and insiders gather every year and have unique, high-level conversations.
I’ve been lucky enough to cover the event first many years ago in London but now for five years since they brought the conference stateside.
By far the most interesting presentation of the week (excluding the one that I moderated of course! 😂 Hopefully we’ll have more on that over at World Soccer Talk soon ) was hearing from Brighton Hove and Albion, Chief Executive Paul Barber about what has made the Seagulls, the stand out club from scouting and resale of players standpoint in the European game.
The clubs approach to scouting is unique and outside of maybe Atalanta of Serie A has yielded the best talent at the lowest cost of any club in a top league.
