Some Friday Transfer Thoughts: Klich, Felix, Thomasson, Moreno, Roussillon etc
Several important deals have gone through this week
It’s Friday so let’s look at where transfers stand as we’re close to hitting the midpoint of the January window.
Mateusz Klich’s move from Leeds United to MLS, joining Wayne Rooney’s DC United is an exciting development for MLS. Klich, a Polish International that featured at Euro 2000 was a mainstay for Marcelo Bielsa’s possession-based system, but just hasn’t fit in well under Jesse Marsch’s more Red Bull-esqe style of high pressing and (sometimes) double-pivots.
Speaking of Marsch, he’s got the guy he wanted more than any other in Georginio Rutter, who will be a star at Elland Road I reckon based on watching him at Hoffenheim. Rutter, also is a long-term prospect for France, having featured over 50 times for France’s youth squads.
Moving over to Ligue Un I like a veteran in Adrien Thomasson going to Lens who are trying to keep pace with PSG atop the table. But why are Strasbourg selling him? Are they selling off now, before they go down?
