Tampa Bay Rowdies Name Dominic Casciato Head Coach
Former Union Omaha Head Coach Brings Experience Across All Aspects of Game
The Tampa Bay Rowdies finally realized they couldn’t rely on a substitute teacher for the rest of the season.
It was announced today that the Tampa Bay Rowdies have hired Dominic Casciato as the club’s new head coach. He joins from Union Omaha, where he won back to back USL League One Players’ Shields and the 2024 USL League One title as coach of Union Omaha.
Casciato has plenty of experience across all aspects of the club game. He started in NASL, working with Brooklyn Italians. First as technical director across all age groups before finally managing the club for the 2017-19 seasons. He did this while also spending 2 years at La Liga’s RCD Espanyol, coaching their academy and pre-academy sides.
That experience helped him get the assistant manager job with the New York Cosmos, before becoming a video scout for FC Midtjylland, a job he held concurrently as El Paso Locomotives assistant head coach. His time in El Paso saw him help improve their goals scored from 21st to 5th.
That goal scoring improvement helped him get the job in Omaha.
With Union Omaha in 2023, he helped guide them to the Players’ Shield with 61 goals in 32 matches. Their heartbreaking loss to Charlotte Independence in the semi-finals only strengethened his resolve. In 2024 Union Omaha won the Players’ Shield in a canter with a better goal differance than in 2023 before winning the USL League One title, defeating Spokane Velocity 3-0. While 2025 has not gone well for Union Omaha, it would appear we now have the why with Casciato wrestling with this decision.
What the Rowides have in a manager is a guy who’s touched all aspects of the game all within the last 10 years. He’ll know how to connect with the youth academies in the Pinellas/Hillsborough area. He’ll know how to help scout the players he’d like to bring in. I think the important thing for the Rowides here is he’s brings a championship pedigree into the dressing room and is someone who will work to maintain it.
Steve Coleman will return to being an assistant for the Rowdies.
There’s some tough decisions to be made about this Rowdies roster going into 2026. It still wouldn’t surprise me if we saw some shuffling before this summer window closes. What I do know is this changes my opinion on the Rowdies season. Dominic Casciato will be able to tap into the run of form this side is now in and only enhance it. I now see this side making the postseason, where I’m not sure anyone is going to want to play them.
