I was just six at the time
The 1980 Soccer Bowl between the New York Cosmos and Fort Lauderdale Strikers is the first match I remember ever watching live on TV with my family. It hooked all of us, the next year we were Fort Lauderdale Strikers season ticket holders and I was playing youth soccer, beginning a lifetime of advocacy for the sport and involvement in it, for me.
