After this post, I promise to get back to club football, though covering the politics of the sport and culture around it is a big part of what we will do at Beyond the 90’.

The 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup gave us an epic final between Argentina and France, one which will live in the annals of the sport forever. But the tournament also gave us the most distasteful event major international sports history since the 1936 Berlin Olympics and that is saying something given the last FIFA World Cup was in Russia and the 1978 edition held in junta-led Argentina remains highly-controversial today.
