Union Omaha Adds Midfielder Ryan Becher on Loan from St. Louis City SC 2
The 24 year old was in his second professional season with the MLS NextPro side
As expected, Union Omaha announced a loan signing today after announcing the departure of three players yesterday.
The club adds 24 year old attacking midfielder Ryan Becher on loan from St. Louis City SC 2. Becher signed with the club ahead of the 2024 season after going undrafted. He spent his final year of NCAA eligibility with UCLA, helping the team to an NCAA Tournament berth. This was following a four year campaign with University of Maryland-Baltimore County, during which he was in the NCAA “Best Starting XI” selection in 2022. Becher previously played with the Philadelphia Union Academy.
With St. Louis City SC 2, Becher has 42 appearances in league play, with three goals and five assists. He appeared in all matches for the club in 2024, starting 13. He made four starts through April 13th in the 2025 season, but has been serving as depth support since then.
The 6’3” Becher adds a sizable presence up front for Omaha, a team desperate to jumpstart goalscoring from the middle. Currently, all goals scored in regular season play have come from wingers, wingbacks and midfielders, with the team’s strikers remaining scoreless. One of the strikers, Mehdi Ouamri, was among those released yesterday, while the club signed USL Championship veteran striker Pato Botello Faz to a 25 day contract earlier this month.
Union Omaha has the coming weekend off to regroup after the roster changes. They’ll next face Richmond Kickers on June 25th at home. By that point, Botello Faz will be nearing the end of his 25 day contract, a deal which seems increasingly like it might become permanent for the remainder of the season.
