I first heard informed speculation that USL was headed to CBS last December. The one-year extension with ESPN which covered the 2023 season (which culminates this Sunday with the USL Championship Final from Charleston) was merely a stopgap I was told when it was signed.

That was correct. USL is headed to CBS - multiple platforms for at several seasons.
