Very nice piece, thanks for sharing about the clubs that are based in Morocco.

Quite understandably, I doubt that most people realize that the Spaniards still possess territory on the continent (if it wasn’t for the sport, I’m not sure that I would know—which is one of the main reasons that I love the opportunity to learn more about people and the world that sport provides).

Thank you! I didn't know about this myself until I saw Real Madrid Castilla play Ceuta. Crazy story!

I didn’t know until I was doing more research about Nico Williams’ family history last year.

Then I started going down the rabbit whole and then the algorithms about the “autonomous” territories took over.

FC Granada is on the mainland but that is another fascinating club. Sad that it has been relegated to 2nd Division but the story of how it came to have a Chinese owner and its travails, should be interesting!

The travel costs for the Spanish league teams in Africa must be astronomical! Does the league(s) reimburse the clubs, since financially they would be at a major disadvantage? And what is the difference between Real Madrid and Real Madrid Castilla (what was the latter's result against AD Ceuta FC in the match you saw?)? Thanks for this content!

It was 1-0 in favor of Ceuta. Castilla is Real Madrid's B team. It is made up of youth academy graduates. I don't know the price of travel, but funnily enough I saw the branded Ceuta team bus outside of the stadium! Thanks for reading!

Spanish football has never been my strength.

But the distance isn’t travel issues appear to not be a major issue due to the distance and the travel between the Spanish mainline, the islands and the autonomous territories.

Jeremy DeLeon will be needing to make a move from Madrid Castilla. Like other Puerto Rico supports, I’ve been following his trajectory.

Castilla is Real Madrid B.
