No one from NorCal was on disciplinary committee as that would be a conflict.
Comparing blatant usage of illegal players by a team and asking for equal discipline on a team for no locker rooms (which is false Afghan Premier was one of the best in standards and they had locker rooms in the gym a few minute walk. Most teams chose not to use).
Ironically Bay Valley accused others of not meeting standards and some were not meeting all the standards. Yet they had no locker rooms or changing tent versus Sol on a hot day and left them a half case of water in the sun. People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
Appreciate you asking the questions as we strive for more transparency. It’s what lacked in our past league.
Rush could qualify for post season with a win for sure. Yet league officials agreed it is not fair if the game kicks off and they are not paid. Rush was told multiple times fees due prior to kickoff to be fair to all the teams. He agreed and understood. Near halftime when Rush already had a 3-0 lead the payment was made. Did they wait to see if they qualified? I don’t know that, yet the line was drawn for sporting fairness to all.
As for NPSL survival that’s up to their leadership to figure it out. The smoke and mirrors of tier 1 status is laughable. 6 years ago it was arguably strongest amateur league in US. Now its attrition is faster than its expansion.
Hitch is a friend and partner in Napa Valley 1839 yet he has to make best decisions for his individual teams. Some have chosen TLfC yet most have made move to USL2 I don’t see the rest staying as the attrition rate at NPSL is greater than growth and teams leaving are substantially stronger organizations than the ones coming.
USL2 does a great job as a summer college league and that is best fit for some organizations. Some feel it’s a better product and in areas of the country it absolutely is yet some 15-0 scorelines show there are some teams that don’t fit level.
TLfC is a different product with flexibility of schedule based in conferences and such. Example NorCal has enough teams to become 2 separate conferences and there is discussion of one to play May through June and the other is already in place playing March through June. We would then meet in playoffs for regional play.
"Appreciate you asking the questions as we strive for more transparency. It’s what lacked in our past league." Do you mean lack of transparency by NPSL or NISA, or some other league?
NPSL, still haven't had proper elections since 2020. Rarely would show full P&L as stated in by-laws and when asked why it was to prevent other leagues from seeing the details. Seemed more preventative of member teams seeing real numbers. When people ask questions of them, they are pushed out.
I doubt you'll fully respond, but how do you feel about the playoff format for NPSL this year? I'm specifically talking about the fact that in the Gulf Coast Sunshine the NOLA Jesters, whose coach and team director is the Chairmen of the NPSL Executive Committee, and Jax Armada U-23, whose President and GM is the South Region Rep on the Board of Directors, are both guaranteed playoff spots and the other 6 teams in the conference fight for 2 spots. No other team is guaranteed playoffs in the NPSL. Happy to have left from a league like that?
Nothing for me to really say. Logistics sometimes make those decisions look worse than they are due to travel costs. Yet, I mean they've decided to forego elections to allow others run against Kenny so nothing would surprise me.
Thanks for all your input! If you had to guess, how much longer would you estimate that NPSL could survive? Do you have an opinion about Michael Hitchcock moving (some? soon to be all?) his clubs from NPSL to USL League 2? Do you envision a future world where LfC would dominate in the western states, and USL2 in the eastern regions (kind of a duopoly)?
