I’m not the biggest fan of Lilley’s style when it comes to entertainment. But his record at this level is undeniable.

It’s pragmatic and successful.

If anyone disagrees or has a different perspective, please do share; I’m genuinely interested.

For me, with “Lilleyball”, everyone knows what they are going to get.

It’s based on defensive discipline from the back, the spacing and making the most of the three to five shots on goal that his squad creates.

When Lilley signed Beto Ydrach, I knew that he possesses the tools that Lilley looks for: Discipline, tenacity and the willingness to put your head down and “do a job”.

I don’t think that any MLS team will come calling for Lilley and I doubt that Lilley would want to move up to MLS because he’s aware that the situation that he has now is a much more secure one.

He’s already coached north of the border and on different coasts. Why take the risk if he’s happy in Pittsburgh and the ownership is content with his performance?
