Transfermarket has Ajmeer Spengler's value as $150K, which is high for USL League One. So South Georgia Tormenta probably let him walk after last season simply due to financial constraints? Tormenta probably has all of its players at the CBA minimum, given its tight finances?
I hope USL League 1 becomes more like USL Championship in signing players more and more to multiyear deals. If Spengler had been on such a multiyear contract, he could have been sold / transferred for six figure profit!
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here, Luis Álvarez was arguably the best young player in the league and allegedly only went for low five figures. I think USL1 is still a ways away from the six figure transfer.
Good list & good write-ups! Jerry’s comeback has been awesome to see.

Yeah and he was also on a performance based contract with Tormenta which was likely a base minimum and only for one season.

So this is where an old guy in the room sounds like a phonograph record playing and states
“I can still remember the days when a USL Second Division club was lucky to get a bag of balls and some cones as part of a player transfer ‘deal’.”
If they were really lucky, they maybe got a Wednesday night friendly in late March with an MLS club that he moved to.
haha yes, progress is incremental!
