You guys spent 12 minutes on the losers England and only 3 minutes on the winners Spain. Spain has players who are technically superior and they had a much tougher road to the Final losing to Japan then crushing Switzerland, defeating Netherlands and Sweden. Compared to England who should have lost to Nigeria in the Round of 16 and did not play a single World Class Team where as Spain played 3 World Class teams. Also Spain outclassed England last year at the Euros and lost the game due to Vildas incompetence which was the final straw for Spanish Players who then took their grievances to the FA.
England couldn’t handle the counter press from Spain. Bonmati was brilliant throughout the Tournament and so were the other veterans Hermoso, Paredes, Caldentay, Battle, and others . Salma, Carmona, and Abelleira were excellent and they gave Spain the extra push to win the World Cup. The Spanish Women persevered under difficult circumstances and are worthy Champions.
This Women’s World Cup was the best ever and the Women’s game continues to improve. I was pleasantly surprised how competitive this World Cup was. We saw Brazil and Germany crash out of the Group Stage and the USA narrowly advance out of the Group and then lose on penalties in the Round of 16. Colombia, Jamaica, Morocco, Nigeria, and South Africa all advanced out of the Group. Lastly I would like to see either Brazil or South Africa host the next Women’s World Cup. USA have already hosted twice and it’s time to take the World Cup to either Africa or South America for the first time.
